The Action Replay Max Evo Review.

Introduction

Hi im wraggster the webmaster of DCEmu & also PS2Emu one being this Dreamcast Site and the other being a Playstation 2 site that follows the homebrew and emulation scene. I heard of the Action Replay Max Evo a while ago and wanted to see if it was true about the capabilties it posessed.

Buying the Action Replay Max Evo

I live in England so buying from Hong Kong/ China is always a worry because you have to put your trust into people from the other side of the world, but Divineo China are a proven shop worldwide and the price of $36 (approx £18) is very good along with cheap shipping, which arrived very fast was also pleasing.

The Max Evo boasts these features:(Copied from Divineo China )

- NEW! Preloaded with over 30,000 powerful cheat codes for the latest and greatest PS2 games. Blast your games wide open with infinite health and ammo, unlock characters, levels, vehicles and more.
- NEW! So easy to update with new codes in a variety of ways. The only cheat code system that can be updated directly via a PS2 broadband internet connection, USB Flash Drive, CD-R, USB keyboard or standard PS2 game pad.
- NEW! Includes proprietary MAX Media Creator PC software letting you burn your own Action Replay MAX-compatible CD-R's that play on any regular PlayStation 2 ¡V no need to modify your console.
- NEW! Enjoy MP3 music via your TV or music system using your PS2 ¡V enjoy over 10 hours of music on just one CD-R (encoded at 128kbps).
- NEW! Watch movies encoded in popular file formats on your PS2. One CD-R contains up to 3 hours .
- NEW! Play Genesis®/Megadrive® game ROMs on your PS2
- NEW! PS2 online chat and instant messaging ¡V enjoy real-time discussion with other Action Replay owners from all over the world
- Turn your PS2 into a multi-region DVD player and watch movies from other countries
- Pack up to 10 times more data onto any memory card using the MAX Memory Manager feature
- Download game-busting PS2 game saves direct to your memory card
- Want to access your codes quickly? Action Replay MAX is the only cheat code system that recognises your specific game disc as soon as you insert it.
- Unrivalled code support ¡V the fastest codes for all the biggest and best games
- Intuitive game-style interface that's a joy to use
- And much, much more!

Now we know that the Action Replay is great for codes and it also features the multi region DVD application but we will concentrate on the new Media and Emulation side of this new product for the PS2.

The Action Replay Max Evo (pictures and small descriptions)

Heres the picture of the unopened Max Evo.

Comes in a nice plastic moulded case and looks rather cool too..

Max Evo Box

As you can see everything is all snugly fiited in, lets see what we have. BTW the USB flash drive wasnt in the box.

Media Creator Software CD

Its a CD, with the Software for your PC to create the Emulation/Movie Discs.

Max Boot CD

This is basically the boot CD for your games so you can use the codes for cheating on games and to use your PS2 as a multi region DVD Player.

Instruction Booklet

Dont make my mistake by not reading it, its very important to read it a few times.

The Flash Drive Open

This is the Open Pose :P

Flash Drive

The Flash Drive as it comes out of the pack.

Well thats the pictures out of the way, now onto the review.
