It appears that Valve may be preparing to showcase the new Steam controller to attendees of the Gamescom expo in Germany in August.
This is according to the list of exhibitors on the official Gamescom website, which has an entry for Valve that specifically lists "controllers" among the things the firm will show at the event.
Valve has not showcased the controller in the flesh since its original unveiling. Valve revealed the first official pictures of the redesigned Steam controller in March.
The new model features drastic design revisions over the original model, losing the originally planned touchscreen in favor of standard face buttons in addition to the dual haptic touch pads.
The launch of Valve's upcoming Steam Machine hardware was expected this year but has been delayed to what is now an expected 2015 launch. Designer Eric Hope confirmed the delay in May, stating that the new controller is the main reason for the delay.
"We're now using wireless prototype controllers to conduct live playtests, with everyone from industry professionals to die-hard gamers to casual gamers," Hope explained at the time.
Rumors that emerged in March claim that the controller may be released for sale later this year.
