Microsoft’s new operating system Windows 9 is set to be shown off on September 30th for the first time.
The computer giant has sent out email invites to a Windows event which will take place in San Francisco, where senior execs Joe Belfiore and Terry Myerson will talking about the future of Windows.
The email invites state: "Join us to hear about what's next for Windows and the enterprise."
A preview version of Windows 9 is expected to be shown off at the event, and users could also have the opportunity to try out the new OS.
This date follows reports which claimed Microsoft would be holding an event towards the end of September or early October.
This week more video footage was leaked purportedly showing the Windows 9 desktop and menu in action.
Images of the mini Start menu were also previously leaked.
The OS will allegedly also feature an early version of Siri-rival Cortana as well as several UI changes. An online distribution method is also said to be included, which will bind a license to a user’s individual PC and activate once they connect to the Microsoft Store.
It is still not clear whether Windows 9 will be known as Windows 9. However, rumours suggest it has been dubbed Windows Threshold.
Once the OS has been finalised, it is expected to launch during April 2015.
