Microsoft has confirmed that the newly announced Microsoft Surface Pro will offer users just 83GB of useable storage space.
The firm confirmed to Softpedia that the Pro edition of the Surface, which features the company's Windows 8 Pro operating system, to reserve 45GB of the device's storage for system files.
Microsoft's original Surface tablet drew fire from users for a similar issue, as the system's OS ate up 13GB of HDD space.
The news will likely upset owners of the base 64GB model of the Surface who were contemplating using Windows 8 Pro as their device's operating system – they would be left with just 19GB of useable space.
Apple may benefit from the Surface's storage issues, as the firm today announced the upcoming release of a 128GB iPad.
Users looking to fill their device with their favourite media may be swayed away from the Surface and go for the upgraded iPad instead, given its limited demand for system storage.
