Default Sony Llimiting Sales of PSP Giga Pack

An anonymous contact has sent us the following story. It seems Sony is pushing the customer very hard this time =/

    Hi,
I just want to you let the world know that sony are disallowing stores across the uk to sell the 1gb PSP package on its own and forcing retailers to sell the machines with at least 2 games. The two specific games vary from store to store. For example, for HMV the two games you *must* buy with the 1gb PSP are Persuit Force and World Tour Soccer, making the total package price ?279.99. Many people who have put pre-orders down have cancelled due to the forced package price, however Im sure that Sony are playing on the publics need for the console as they know people will buy the console at the extra price due to such high demand.

Although the package does seem good value for money, its something that should be down to the retailer, and ultimatly, the customer to decide. I have spoken to a number of customers who would have baught the 1gb console if it wernt for the two games being forced upon them.

Please pop into your local Game or HMV to confirm this. I work for a large retail chain within the UK. Sony have also provided us with a customer service number to give to customers who are unhappy about the situation.
This shows they knew it would be a problem, but went ahead with it anyway.
All they care about right now is $$$.

    Thanks.

Sony, do you want to be the 2nd Microsoft to be sued by force-bundling products? Becareful…

Thanks for the email heads-up, anonymous

    Cool

That was the case here in the U.S. also when they released the PSP. Not sure about all stores, but at Toys R Us you only had a choice of a "bundle pack" which means you had to pick 2 games and it came with an Intec accessory pack. If they had told me I had to buy a specific game I would've told them to keep it. As it was I really only wanted the 1 game at launch, but at least I had some choice.
